April 2, 2006 – Current: def. Randy Orton & Kurt Angle (Triple Threat)
Rey Mysterio won his first World Heavyweight Championship from Kurt Angle in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 22. Mysterio pinned Randy Orton after a West Coast Pop to win the match.
Dec. 16, 2005 – Dec. 30, 2005: w/ Batista def. MNM
Rey Mysterio teamed up with World Heavyweight Champion Batista to take on MNM for the WWE Tag Team Championship on SmackDown. The challengers survived interference from Melina to take control of the match. Mysterio and Batista hit the 619 and Batista Bomb simultaneously and made the pin to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship. This marked the beginning of Rey’s fourth reign as a WWE Tag Team Champion. During their reign, Rey & Batista represented SmackDown at Armageddon, taking on Big Show & Kane in a matchup of Tag Team Champions. RAW’s team came out on top but not after a hard fight from the SmackDown duo. Rey & Batista went on to face MNM in a SmackDown rematch for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Things appeared to be well in hand until a returning Mark Henry made his way to the ring and took out the World Heavyweight Champion Batista, allowing Joey Mercury to make the pin, and reclaim the WWE Tag Team Championship. Feb. 20, 2005 – April 21, 2005: w/Eddie Guerrero def. Basham Brothers
Rey Mysterio got a chance to take the WWE Tag Team Championships back from the Bashams at No Way Out, only this time he had a different partner. His partner this time around was his good friend, Eddie Guerrero. It didn’t take long for Rey to learn from his partner, as the duo cheated their way to victory. As the referee had his back turned, Rey tossed one of the Championship belts into Eddie, who in turn hit Doug Basham with it and made the pin for the win. This marked Rey’s third time as a WWE Tag Team Champion. Rey & Eddie’s rivalry with the Bashams continued after the Championship change, as they faced off on several more occasions. Rey & Eddie remained the Champions for several months until tension arose between the good friends. Things came to a head on an edition of SmackDown when Rey & Eddie took on MNM for the Championship. Eddie was distracted outside the ring by Melina allowing MNM to hit the Snapshot and capture the WWE Tag Team Championship. After the match, a verbal confrontation turned physical as Rey & Eddie exchanged blows in the middle of the ring. Dec. 9, 2004 – Jan. 13, 2005: w/Rob Van Dam def. Kenzo Suzuki & Rene Dupree
The rivalry between Rey Mysterio & Rob Van Dam and the international team of Kenzo Suzuki & Rene Dupree had been brewing for weeks coming into their matchup for the gold on SmackDown. Mysterio & RVD proved to be too much for Kenzo & Dupree and captured the Championship. The victory marked Rey’s second run as WWE Tag Team Champion. As Champions, Rey & RVD successfully endured challenges from the likes of Eddie Guerrero & Booker T and Kurt Angle & Luther Reigns. Rey & RVD defended the Championship in a 4-Way Tag Team Elimination Match on SmackDown against the teams of Mark Jindrak & Luther Reigns, Booker T & Eddie Guerrero and the Bashams. Jindrak & Reigns were the first team to be eliminated when Rey & RVD used a double team for the pin. Mysterio pinned Eddie Guerrero for the second elimination of the match, leaving Rey & RVD to face the Bashams to determine a winner. Doug Basham layed a beating on RVD outside the ring, using the ring steps to further damage an already injured knee, effectively taking RVD out of the match. The Bashams seized the opportunity to double team Rey and took the victory and the WWE Tag Team Championship. Nov. 7, 2002 – Nov. 17th, 2002: w/Edge def. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit
Rey Mysterio & Edge faced the WWE Tag Team Champions in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match on SmackDown. Mysterio & Edge took the first fall after a powerbomb and seated senton combination. The second fall went to Angle & Benoit after Edge tapped out to Angle’s ankle lock submission. Following the second fall, controversy ensued as Rey appeared to record the decisive third fall with a sunset flip on Kurt Angle. The referee did not see Angle’s hand on the ropes and awarded the Championship to Rey & Edge. Benoit & Angle successfully appealed to the ref to restart the third fall of the match. After an Edge spear, and an accidental headbutt from Benoit, Edge made the pin and the referee officially awarded the WWE Tag Team Championship to Mysterio & Edge. Mysterio & Edge would not be tag champs for long as they were forced to defend their Championship in a Triple Threat Elimination Match at Survivor Series. Their opponents for this match were the team of Angle & Benoit and Los Guerreros. A spear from Edge eliminated the team of Angle & Benoit leaving the reigning champs and Los Guerreros to fight it out for the Championship. After a 619 on Eddie, Rey went for the West Coast Pop on Chavo but was hit with the Championship. Eddie recovered and locked in the Lasso from El Paso on Rey for the win.
June 17, 2004 – July 29, 2004: Mysterio def. Chavo Classic
A June edition SmackDown was the site of Rey Mysterio’s most recent Cruiserweight Championship. Facing a man some 30 years his elder, Mysterio was taking on the newly crowned Champion, Chavo Classic. The veteran proved to be no match for Rey as he won his third WWE, and eighth overall Cruiserweight Championship. During his short reign as Champ, Rey continued his rivalry with Chavo Guerrero. While Chavo was not able to take Rey’s Championship, Spike Dudley was. Spike got unwanted help from his brothers, Bubba Ray and D-Von and hit the Dudley Dog for the win. Jan. 1, 2004 – Feb. 15, 2004: Mysterio def. Tajiri
Tajiri was escorted to the ring by his associates Akio and Sakoda. During the match, the referee was knocked unconscious allowing Tajiri’s friends to interfere. During the melee, Tajiri attempted to spit green mist into Rey’s eyes, only to hit Sakoda by accident. The misfire led to the end for Tajiri, as Rey rolled him up and captured his second Cruiserweight Championship since joining WWE, and his seventh overall. Mysterio successfully defended his Championship in a rivalry against Jamie Noble on a number of occasions before moving on to face Chavo Guerrero at No Way Out in February 2004. Rey appeared to have the match in hand until Chavo’s father, Chavo Classic interfered, which led to Guerrero getting the win and taking the Championship. June 5, 2003 – Sept. 25th, 2003: Mysterio def. Matt Hardy
Matt Hardy brought his followers, Shannon Moore and Crash Holly, to the ring with him for this match, but a few minutes into the contest, the referee barred them from ringside. Hardy did not shy away from underhanded tactics in this match, as he attempted to hit Mysterio with the Championship only to have the ref grab it and reprimand the Champ for his actions. During the distraction, Crash and Shannon returned to the ring and laid a beating on Mysterio. Hardy tried to take advantage, only to have Mysterio roll him up for a surprise pin and the victory. During his four month reign as Champion, Rey successfully defended the gold against all comers, including former Champion Matt Hardy. Rey’s first run as a WWE Champion ended after Tajiri spit a red mist in his eyes and recorded the pinfall for the win.
April 26, 1999 – Aug. 19, 1999: Rey Mysterio def. Psicosis
Interference from the Four Horsemen was not enough to stop Rey Mysterio from winning his fifth Cruiserweight Championship as he defeated Psicosis on Nitro. Rey beat Juventud on an edition of Thunder to become a three-time Cruiserweight Champion. His reign lasted little more than a week as he was defeated by Chris Jericho at Souled Out ’98.Oct. 26, 1997 – Nov. 10, 1997: Rey Mysterio def. Eddie Guerrero
Halloween Havoc ’97 was the site of Rey Mysterio’s second Cruiserweight Championship, as he defeated his longtime friend and opponent Eddie Guerrero in a battle of two high fliers. Guerrero won the Championship back from Rey a few weeks later on Nitro.July 8, 1996 – Oct. 27, 1996: Rey Mysterio def. Dean Malenko
Rey beat Dean Malenko on an early episode of Nitro to capture his first Cruiserweight Championship, and first Championship in the United States. Rey lost the Championship back to Malenko a few months later at Halloween Havoc ‘96.
Aug. 14, 2000 – Sept. 18, 2000: w/ Juventud def. Vampiro & The Great Muta
Rey Mysterio’s third WCW Tag Team Championship reign began on Nitro where he and his partner Juventud defeated the unique pairing of Vampiro and Japanese legend The Great Muta. The Championship was vacated due to a bizarre ruling by WCW Commissioner Ernest “The Cat” Miller.Oct. 18, 1999 – Oct. 25, 1999: w/ Konnan def. Harlem Heat
Rey Mysterio and Konnan represented the Filthy Animals when they defeated Booker T. & Stevie Ray to win the WCW Tag Team Championships. The win marked Rey’s second WCW Tag Team Championship. The team was stripped of the Championship the next week due to an injury to Mysterio.March 29, 1999 – May 9, 1999: w/ Billy Kidman def. Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko
Nitro was the site of a special accomplishment for Rey Mysterio as he and Billy Kidman, beat two members of the Four Horsemen to capture the World Tag Team Championship. The win made Rey a double champion as he was also the Cruiserweight Champion at the time. Rey’s first run as WCW Tag Team Champion ended at Slamboree ’99 when interference from Kanyon allowed Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko to regain the Championship.

John Cena was born on April 23 1977, in West Newbury, Massachusetts the second eldest of five brothers – Dan, Matt, Steve and Sean. He graduated from Cushing Academy before attending Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. In college he was a Division III All-American center on the football team, wearing the number 54, which is still used on some of his WWE merchandise. He graduated from Springfield in 1998 with a degree in exercise physiology pursuing a career as a bodybuilder,as well as working as a chauffeur for a limousine company.
Cena in wrestling training
Cena first started training to become a wrestler in 2000 at the California-based “Ultimate University” operated by Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW). Once he was placed into an in-ring role, he began using a semi-robotic character known as the The Prototype. Some of this period of his career was documented in the Discovery Channel program Wrestling School. While in UPW, Cena held the Heavyweight Championship for just shy of a month in April 2000. In 2001, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) signed him away from UPW, placing him under a developmental contract and assigning him to their “farm territory” Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he continued his training. During his time there, he wrestled as both The Prototype and Mr. P, and he held the Heavyweight Championship for three months and the Tag Team Championships (with Rico Constantino) for two.
World Wrestling Entertainment
2002–2003
Cena lifting Kurt Angle for an FU.Cena’s first televised WWE match was in answer to a (kayfabe) open challenge by Kurt Angle on June 27 2002. Inspired by a speech given by WWE CEO Vince McMahon to the rising stars of the company, exhorting them to show “ruthless aggression” to earn a place among the legends, Cena took advantage of the opportunity and almost beat Angle by kicking out of his Angle Slam and enduring the ankle lock submission hold. However, he ultimately lost to a hard, amateur-style pin.Following the near-win, Cena became a face and was put into a program with Chris Jericho. In October, Cena and Billy Kidman joined forces to take part in a tag team tournament to crown the first WWE Tag Team Champions of the SmackDown! brand, but lost in the first round. The next week, Cena was turned on and attacked Kidman, blaming him for their loss.Shortly after the Kidman attack, on a Halloween themed episode of SmackDown!, Cena dressed as Vanilla Ice and performed a freestyle rap for Stephanie McMahon during a backstage segment. The next week, Cena received a new gimmick: a rapper who cut promos in rhyme. As the gimmick grew, he adopted a variant of the 80s WWF logo — dropping the “F” — as his “signature symbol”, along with the slogan “Word Life”. Moreover, he was joined by an enforcer, Bull Buchanan, who was rechristened B-2 (also written B² and pronounced “B-Squared”). Buchanan was later replaced by Rodney Mack under the moniker “Red Dogg”,until he was sent to the Raw brand in February. For the first half of 2003, Cena sought the WWE Championship and chased the reigning champion, Brock Lesnar, performing weekly “freestyles” challenging him to matches.During the program, Cena unveiled a new finishing maneuver: the FU, a Fireman’s carry powerslam, so named to mock Lesnar’s F-5.He got a match against Lesnar at April’s Backlash by winning a #1 contenders tournament, but did not get the title. He finished out the year engaging in feuds with Spanky and Kurt Angle.
2004–2005
Cena, wearing his customized U.S. Championship beltIn early 2004, Cena participated in the Royal Rumble match at the annual January pay-per-view event, making it to the final six participants before being eliminated by the Big Show. The Royal Rumble elimination led to a feud between Big Show and Cena, during which Cena won the United States Championship from the Big Show at WrestleMania XX in March. During his reign, he came into contention with SmackDown! General Manager Kurt Angle over issues arising with René Duprée and Torrie Wilson. The reign ended just shy of four months when, on July 8, he was “stripped” of the belt by Angle after he (kayfabe, accidentally) knocked him over, thus “attacking an official”. He won the title back by defeating Booker T in a “best of five” series that culminated at October’s No Mercy, only to lose it to the debuting Carlito Caribbean Cool the next week. After the loss to Carlito, the duo began a feud, during which Cena was (kayfabe) stabbed in the kidney while at a Boston-area nightclub by Carlito’s bodyguard, Jesús.This worked injury was used to keep Cena out of action for a month, during which Cena was actually filming his feature film debut The Marine.Immediately on his return in November, he won the US title back from Carlito, then debuted a “custom made” spinner style title beltCena took part in the Royal Rumble in January 2005, this time making it to the final two. He and Raw brand wrestler Batista went over the top rope at the same time, ostensibly ending the match. However, Vince McMahon appeared on stage and re-started the match in “sudden death“, with Batista eventually winning. The next month, Cena defeated Kurt Angle to earn a spot in the SmackDown! brand’s WrestleMania 21 main event, beginning a feud with WWE Champion John “Bradshaw” Layfield (JBL) and his Cabinet in the process. In the opening stages of the feud Cena lost his US belt to Cabinet member Orlando Jordan, who proceeded to “blow up” the spinner version with JBL and return a more traditional style belt. When Cena and JBL met at WrestleMania, the title switched hands, giving Cena his first world title in the company. As part of the storyline, he then had a spinner WWE Championship belt made, while JBL took the original belt and claimed to still be WWE Champion, until Cena reclaimed the original belt in an “I Quit” match at Judgment Day.Cena’s SmackDown! tenure came to a close on the June 6 2005 episode of WWE Raw, when he became the first wrestler selected by Raw brand General Manager Eric Bischoff in the annual draft lottery. Arriving on the Raw brand, Cena entered a program against Bischoff when he refused to participate in his “war” against the upcoming Extreme Championship Wrestling reunion show. With Bischoff vowing to make Cena’s stint on Raw difficult, he “hand picked” Jericho to take Cena’s title from him. During their feud, even though Cena was portrayed as the face and Jericho as the heel, a vocal section of live crowds nonetheless chose to boo Cena during their matches. More crowds followed suit during Cena’s next feud with Kurt Angle, who took over as Bischoff’s hand picked #1 contender after Cena beat Jericho in a “You’re Fired” match on the August 22 Raw, sending him off the show. As the feud continued and the dissenters grew more vocal, sometimes seeming to outnumber fans by wide margins, the announce team was forced to acknowledge the boos on television and began calling Cena a “controversial champion”, claiming some people disliked him on account of his “in-ring style” and his chosen fashion.Despite the mixed and negative reactions, Cena held on to his Championship through his feud with Angle, losing to him by disqualification — for which titles do not change hands in WWE — at Unforgiven in September and pinning him at Survivor Series in November. The feud with Angle also saw Cena add a secondary, submission based, finishing maneuver to his repertoire – the STFU (a Stepover Toehold Sleeper, though named for a Stepover Toehold Facelock) – when he was put into a (Triple Threat) Submissions Only match on the November 28 Raw.
Cena facing off against Edge at a WWE house show.Cena lost the WWE Championship at the first WWE pay-per-view of 2006, New Year’s Revolution, but not in the Elimination Chamber match that he had been advertised to participate in beforehand. Instead, immediately after winning the Elimination Chamber, he was thrust into a match against Edge, who cashed in his Money in the Bank contract — a “guaranteed title match at the WWE Champion of the owners choosing” — and after two quick spears pinned Cena for the title.Cena’s championship reign ended at 280 days, matching the length of previous champion JBL. Just three weeks later, Cena won the title back at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.After winning the Championship back Cena was put in to a program with Triple H, during which the crowd again seemed to boo the intended face (Cena) and cheer the intended heel (Triple H). The negative reaction only intensified when he faced Rob Van Dam (also cashing in a Money in the Bank contract, which he won at WrestleMania 22) at One Night Stand in June. Taking place in front of a crowd of mostly “old school” Extreme Championship Wrestling fans at the Hammerstein Ballroom, Cena was met with raucous jeering and chants of “Fuck you, Cena”, “You can’t wrestle”, and “Same old shit”. When he began peppering different moves into the match the fans responded with a chant of “You still suck”. Cena lost the WWE Championship for the second time in 2006 at One Night Stand, being pinned by Van Dam after interference from Edge.Cena, addressing fans at a Raw show.In July, after Edge won the title from Van Dam in a Triple Threat match that also involved Cena,it re-ignited the feud between he and Cena from earlier in the year. After Edge went about retaining the title by dubious means — getting himself disqualified] (for which Championships do not change hands), and using brass knuckles— he introduced his own version of Cena’s “custom” belt, this one with his logo placed on the spinner.Cena eventually won the Championship back in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match at September’s Unforgiven pay-per-view, in a match that had an added stipulation that had Cena lost he would leave the Raw brand and go to SmackDown!. He returned his version of the spinner belt on the next night’s Raw. On the heels of the Edge program, Cena was placed in an inter-brand angle to determine the so-called “Champion of Champions” — or which was the most dominate champion in WWE’s three brands.Cena, King Booker (SmackDown!’s then World Heavyweight Champion), and Big Show (ECW’s then World Champion) engaged in a mini-feud leading to a Triple Threat match at Cyber Sunday in November, with the viewers voting on which of the three championships would be placed on the line. At the same time, Cena became involved in a storyline with non-wrestler Kevin Federline when he began appearing on Raw with Johnny Nitro and Melina. After getting into a (worked) physical altercation with Federline on Raw, Federline appeared at Cyber Sunday to hit Cena with the World Heavyweight Title belt during the main event Triple Threat match, helping King Booker retain his title. 2006 ended with Cena beginning a feud with the undefeated Umaga over the WWE Championship, while 2007 began with the end of his storyline with Kevin Federline. In the first Raw of the new year, Cena was pinned by Federline (with an assist from Umaga), although later in the night he was able to get his hands on Federline to FU him. During their feud Cena ended Umaga’s “undefeated” streak at New Year’s Revolution before Umaga caused a (worked) injury to Cena’s spleen, putting a scheduled Last Man Standing rematch at Royal Rumble in (kayfabe) jeopardy. The match did, however, take place and Cena retained his title. One night after the Royal Rumble, an impromptu team of Cena and Shawn Michaels defeated Rated-RKO (Edge and Randy Orton) for the World Tag Team Championship, making Cena a double champion. On the April 2 episode of Raw, after losing a WWE Championship match to Cena at WrestleMania 23, Michaels “turned” on Cena, costing them the team the Championship in the second of two 10 team battles royals by throwing Cena over the top rope and eliminating the team. The Hardys (Matt and Jeff) would eventually win the match and the title. For the rest of the month Cena feuded with Michaels, Orton, and Edge until The Great Khali declared his intentions to challenge for Cena’s title by attacking and “laying out” all three of the top contenders before assaulting Cena himself and stealing the physical belt. For the next two months Cena feuded with Khali over the Championship, eventually becoming the first person in WWE to defeat him by submission at May’s Judgment Day[105][106] and then by pinfall at June’s One Night Stand. Later that summer, prior to SummerSlam, Randy Orton was named the #1 contender to the WWE championshipstarting a feud between the two. Leading up to the pay-per-view Orton delivered a number of sneak-attacks, hitting Cena with three RKOs, but in the actual match Cena retained the title, winning by pinfall.A rematch between the two occurred at Unforgiven, with Orton winning by disqualification after Cena ignored the referee’s instructions and continued to beat on him in the corner. On the October 1 2007 episode of Raw, Cena suffered a legitimate torn pectoral muscle during a match with Mr. Kennedy while executing a hip toss. Though he finished the match and the ensuing attack from Randy Orton, surgery the following day found that his pectoralis major muscle was torn completely from the bone, requiring seven months to a year rehabilitation. As a result he was stripped of the title, as announced by Vince McMahon on the next night’s episode of ECW, ending what was the longest WWE Championship reign in over 19 years. His surgery was performed by orthopedic surgeon James Andrews at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Two weeks later, in an video update on WWE.com, Dr. Andrews, who perfomed the surgery, and Cena’s Physical Trainer both said that he was several weeks ahead of where he was expected to be in his rehabilitation. John Cena also stated that, while he can’t work out his right arm, he continues to work out the rest of his body. John Cena is a realy wrestling champion.

Rain forests, are forests characterized by high rainfall, with definitions setting minimum normal annual rainfall between 1750 mm and 2000 mm (68 inches to 78 inches).Rainforests are home to two-thirds of all the living animal and plant species on the planet. It has been estimated that many hundreds of millions of new species of plants, insects and microorganisms are still undiscovered. Tropical rain forests are called the “jewels of the earth”, and the “world’s largest pharmacy” because of the large amount of natural medicines discovered there. Tropical rain forests are also often called the “Earth’s lungs”, however there is no scientific basis for such a claim as tropical rainforests are known to be essentially oxygen neutral, with little or no net oxygen production.[1].[2]
The undergrowth in a rainforest is restricted in many areas by the lack of sunlight at ground level. This makes it possible for people and other animals to walk through the forest. If the leaf canopy is destroyed or thinned for any reason, the ground beneath is soon colonized by a dense tangled growth of vines, shrubs and small trees called jungle

- Born: 15 February 1564
- Birthplace: Pisa, Italy
- Died: 8 January 1642
- Best Known As: The inventor of the astronomical telescope
Galileo was a great Italian scientist who helped unlock many secrets of astronomy and natural motion. Galileo’s achievements include: building the first high-powered astronomical telescope; inventing a horse-powered pump to raise water; showing that the velocities of falling bodies are not proportional to their weights; describing the true parabolic paths of cannonballs and other projectiles; coming up with the ideas behind Newton’s laws of motion; and confirming the Copernican theory of the solar system. Because he believed that the planets revolved around the sun, and not the Earth, Galileo was denounced as a heretic by the church in Rome. He faced the Inquisition and was forced to renounce those beliefs publicly, though later research, of course, proved him to be correct. His works include Sidereus Nuncius (The Sidereal Messenger, 1610), Il saggiatore (The Assayer, 1623), and Dialogo sopra i due massimi sistemi del mondo tolemaico, e copernicano (Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, 1632).
The Vatican officially recognized the validity of Galileo’s work in 1993… Galileo was a professor of mathematics at the University of Padua from 1592-1610… Others had invented very low-power telescopes before Galileo, but he refined and improved the idea so greatly that he is generally considered the inventor of the modern telescope

- Born: 25 December 1642
- Birthplace: Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England
- Died: 20 March 1727 (bladder stone)
- Best Known As: The genius who explained gravity
Isaac Newton’s discoveries were so numerous and varied that many consider him to be the father of modern science. A graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, Newton developed an intense interest in mathematics and the laws of nature which ultimately led to his two most famous works: Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica (1687) and Opticks (1704). Newton helped define the laws of gravity and planetary motion, co-founded the field of calculus, and explained laws of light and color, among many other discoveries. (A famous story says that Newton uncovered the laws of gravity after being hit on the head by a falling apple. There is no proof that this story is true. However, his assistant John Conduitt later wrote that Newton had said he was inspired to think about gravity after seeing an apple fall in his garden around 1666.) Newton was knighted in 1705 and upon his death in 1727 was the first scientist given the honor of burial in Westminster Abbey.

Leonardo da Vinci
- Born: 15 April 1452
- Birthplace: Vinci, Italy
- Died: 2 May 1519 (natural causes)
- Best Known As: Painter of the Mona Lisa
Leonardo da Vinci is best remembered as the painter of the Mona Lisa (1503-1506) and The Last Supper (1495). But he’s almost equally famous for his astonishing multiplicity of talents: he dabbled in architecture, sculpture, engineering, geology, hydraulics and the military arts, all with success, and in his spare time doodled parachutes and flying machines that resembled inventions of the 19th and 20th centuries. He made detailed drawings of human anatomy which are still highly regarded today. Leonardo also was quirky enough to write notebook entries in mirror (backwards) script, a trick which kept many of his observations from being widely known until decades after his death.Leonardo da Vinci means “Leonardo from the town of Vinci,” and thus he is generally referred to in short as “Leonardo” rather than as “da Vinci”… He received a fresh burst of public interest in 2003 with the publication of The Da Vinci Code, the bestselling thriller by author Dan Brown.
